Masive geek fest

So on Saturday I went to my first ever proper convention (minus the small Star Wars one at Birkenhead Spaceport) and it was fantastic!

Friday night I went to a dreadful gig in Liverpool, Bal-Sagoth, without the real singer who has pissed off somewhere and abysmal sound. Took Gaz, Scott and Rachel back to mine to stat over in preparation for the early start.

So we headed off to London before 8am and got there just before midday, wandered straight in and within 10 minutes we all met Doug Bradley aka Pinhead, I got my 'Nightbreed Chronicles' signed by him. Next up was Ashley Laurence who played Kirsty in the Hellraiser films, she looked stunning and told me how she used to squeeze her hair over hot steaming water to get it as huge as possible, aaah the 80s!

Had a bit of a mooch around, saw the original Delorean from Back to the Future (we actually saw another one in London on the way there), K9, R2-D2 and a very small amount of Hogwarts proppage. Managed to meet up with Mike who was on a mission to meet Karen Gillan and did in the end! Had a look at the Monkey Mobile and the 60s Batmobile. Went with Rachel to get Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa's autograph for her dad. I went and met Robert Rankin for the second time in my life and got one of his books, he's just the most amazing bloke, so eccentric but 'one of us' and was happy chatting for quite a while about steampunk and stuff.

Next up it was time to meet Gil Gerrard aka Buck Rogers :D He was such a nice fella and was huge! I got Martha a signed photo, as we used to watch it every week! Erin Gray was there too but we didn't meet her.

I think next up we got in the queue to meet Clive Barker, I handed out flyers for Re-Vamp for Die and people seemed interested (as they were the target audience), met some lads who do Hellraiser websites too so gonna get in touch with them hopefully. Met Clive who had a hand injury so was painful for him to sign stuff but he did anyway. Shook his hand twice and told him off for all the fuel I've spent getting there and to see his art exhibition next week (he did laugh!), was all quite quick but he got a Re-Vamp flyer too!

As Gaz's official photographer I got to go and meet some others too, the original Apollo (Richard Hatch) from Battlestar Galactica whp was a fantastic bloke, two of Babylon 5 (Peter Jurasik and Stephen Furst ), Data (Brent Spiner) from Start Trek

Rachel and I decided we couldn't be bothered waiting to meet Corey Feldmen so we gibbed him off to meet Sylvester McCoy aka The Doctor. He was a lot of fun, heard him say 'Bastards' when some blkoe he knew asked him to sign five things! He was having a properly hilarious conversation with some bloke and his kids about video games!

At some point I remembered in my initial excitement I hadn't given Robert Rankin a flyer for Re-Vamp so rectified that immediately, he put his glasses on and read it , checked woth me how to make the web address work and said it sounded very interesting and he would follow it up :D I said I was rooting for Sea Monsters to be included next!

The costumes people were wearing ranged from awesome to hilarious. Awesome included; Droogs, Jean Luc Picard, Dead Snow zombies, various anime, Duke Nukem (muscles on steroid muscles), A PROPER FULL ON BATTLE WITCH KING and loads of Storm Troopers etc.

From a distance we saw Christopher Lambert, lots of Harry Potter people like Victor Krum , Dursley, Tonks and miscellaneous students. Also saw David Prouse, Kenny Baker, Boba Fet, the usual suspects hehe.

Got to see Dave from The Monster Store in Nottingham which was good and managed to meet up with Katie as well to form the Re-Vamp street team!! I had bizarrely handed out flyers to two of her friends who knew more or less who Die was already :)

Towards the end we did a bit of shopping, Rach got some cool stuff and I was chuffed to stumble upon the Fetishman store and get some comics!!!

It was all a bit awesome, I spent a lot of money haha. Took quite a while to escape London and quite a time to get back as I wasn't rushing! Loved it though, roll on the next one!!!
